Targeted Victory in the News: Campaign Donations and Text Messaging

September 1, 2012 by Rebecca Hucker

Campaigns are now using text messaging to receive donations. Supporters can donate by texting a word, such as DONATE or GIVE, to a special five digit number registered to the campaign. Our co-founder and digital director for the Romney campaign Zac Moffatt was mentioned in a few articles this week highlighting the campaign’s new text messaging strategy.

A new Huffington Post article looks at the Romney campaign’s new text messaging donation service. Supporters can make $10 donations by texting GIVE to 37377 on their Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular phones.  Moffatt explains how text messaging is a fast and easy way for people to donate to the Romney campaign.

A new article from USA Today also looks at donations through text messaging. Moffatt explains how text messaging allows supporters to donate small amounts in a quick, convenient manner. The Romney campaign hopes that this new text messaging donation service will encourage more people to donate and help the campaign win in November.
